I AM CURIOUS (YELLOW) is a movie written and directed by Vilgot Sjöman theatrically released in 1967.
The picture is a mixture of fiction and documentary featuring a young scandinavian girl, Lena, who analyzes the swedish society of the mid sixties. She interviews the Minister of Communication Olof Palme as well as unionists or people in the street about such subjects as Sweden's position on the Vietnam war, non-violence or the role of the swedish Social Democratic party. She organizes public demonstrations and edits a non-professional newspaper. The feeling of liberty felt by the viewer in front of I'M CURIOUS (YELLOW) is greatly reinforced by Lena's free attitude towards sexuality. The movie was banned from the american screens because of nudity, explicit sex and controversial politics.
