| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Tears of the Sun |
A small unit of Navy SEALs led by Lt. Waters is sent to Nigeria to extract a doctor, a priest and two nuns before an army of rebels overruns the tiny village.
The priest and nuns refuse to leave and the doctor, Lena, won't leave without her people, a group of refugees.
The SEALs lead Lena and the refugees to the landing zone. However, at the LZ they hurry Lena onto a chopper, but leave the refugees behind.
Meanwhile, the rebels kill the priest and nuns and burn the village.
Gaining a conscience, Waters and his men return to the LZ. They load 12 refugees on the chopper and lead the rest through the jungles to the border.
The rebels follow the refugees to kill one of them that happens to be the President's son.
During a viscious firefight, several of the refugees and four of the SEALs are killed. With some air support that wipes out the rebel army, the remaining SEALs and refugees make it to the border and to safety.
