| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Driller Killer |
THE DRILLER KILLER is the first movie of Abel Ferrara he directed in 1979.
The movie is not your regular horror thriller. Of course, there are some gory scenes with a drill but the main part of the movie is the description of the evolution of the madness of Reno Miller, an artist, a painter who's suffering from the artists's usual problem : the lack of money. He's supported by his girl-friend Carol who patiently waits for Reno to finish his last painting. But everything goes wrong for the artist : a punk-rock band is rehearsing in the next apartment and the art gallery owner he works with doesn't like the painting. When Carol finally leaves him, Reno has already become completely mad and committed a few murders. Now, he's after his ex-girl-friend.
