Review Summary and Plot Commentary about King of New York
On the day that drug kingpin Frank White (Christopher Walken) is released from prison, bloodshed breaks out across New York City, as a Colombian drug gang is slain and their merchandise stolen.

Arriving by limo at his suite in the Plaza Hotel, Frank is reunited with his old friend Jimmy Jump (Laurence Fishburne), a ruthless gangster who orchestrated the killings as Frank's "welcome home" present.

Although publicly declaring that he intends to go straight, Frank falls right back into his old lifestyle, killing a Mafia boss (Frank Gio) who opposes his return to power and robbing a gangster (Joey Chin) of millions of dollars worth of heroin, which Frank intends to use in financing the construction of a hospital for the ghetto.

It isn't all smooth sailing for Frank, though, as the police, led by the straight-laced Captain Bishop (Victor Argo), are on to him. And when a pair of rogue cops (David Caruso and Wesley Snipes) decide to go outside the law to get Frank, it could mean the end of his empire.
