| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Mighty Wind |
"A Mighty Wind" is the third mockumentary by director Christopher Guest who also cowrites the movie along with Eugene Levy. From the opening scenes to the epilogues I was laughing hysterically. In fact the Sure Flo song left me spewing my Sprite all over the place. This movie ranks just above "Waiting for Guffman" and up to par with "Best In Show". I can't wait until Guest's next gem.

Irving Steinbloom, manager and agent to a host of folk artists, has died. His son Jonathan (Balaban) decides a fitting tribute would be a concert at Town Hall featuring Steinbloom's favorite acts: the Folksmen (a trio), the New Main Street Singers (a highly color-coordinated "neuftet"), and Mitch and Mickey, the romantic duo on guitar and zither (although they split up long ago and Mitch has basically been in a mental institution for much of the duration). The crew and most of the same cast behind "This Is Spinal Tap," "Waiting For Guffman," and "Best In Show" reunite for a sweet, loving 2003 satire on the early 1960s folk music movement. The film is not as funny as its predecessors, and its humor and almost dead-on parodies of the music of that period may be lost on younger viewers.
