| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Eve's Bayou |
EVE'S BAYOU is a movie written and directed by Kasi Lemmons in 1997.
Samuel L. Jackson should be the happiest man of Louisiana. He's a reknown doctor, he's got a beautiful wife, three children and lives in a superb house near the bayou. His two daughters, Eve (10) and Cisely (14), worship him and the movie is told by Eve's point of view. When Eve accidentally discovers his father in Mrs. Mereaux's arms, she refuses the truth and accepts his embarrassed explanations. Little by little, Eve is going to become aware that her father is a womanizer who can't resist his patients's advances. But Jackson always manages to calm down his wife who's also under his tremendous charm. An instant classic, EVE'S BAYOU is one of the best american movies of 1997 and should absolutely be rediscovered.
