THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY is a movie written and directed by Norman Z. McLeod in 1947.

Danny Kaye is a nice young man overprotected by his mother who's even chosen Danny's fiancee. He regularly escapes from the trivial reality by daydreaming and imagining himself in different heroic characters. One day, he makes the acquaintance of Virginia Mayo, a young dutch girl looking for a black notebook containing the names of the places where the national jewels of Holland have been hidden. Soon, psychiatrist Boris Karloff and different bad guys want Danny dead as the poor guy has accidentally taken possession of the precious notebook.
