SECOND BREATH (Le Second Souffle) is a movie cowritten and directed by Jean-Pierre Melville in 1966.
Gu is 46 years old and has just escaped from prison. 10 years before, he was the public enemy number 1, now he just want to go back to Italy. Before stowing away, he takes part in a robbery as the fourth man. Trapped by the police, Gu manages to escape but must face his partners who believe that he's denounced them.
The second plot is the movie describes the activity of Inspector -Paul Meurisse- Blot who, thanks to his deductions, follows step by step from his office in Paris Gu's dramatic journey.
