Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Two Tars (1928)
This 1928 version of "road rage" is one of Laurel & Hardy's greatest "retribution comedies." Stanley and Oliver are two sailors on shore leave. They rent a car, pick up a couple girls, and go for a spin but soon find themselves stuck in a massive highway traffic jam. A minor collision sets off an ever escalating series of tit-for-tat retaliations, until an entire crowd of motorists is busily ramming and tearing up one another's vehicles. It's hilarious (and painful, if you're a car lover).
