| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about My Favorite Season |
MY FAVORITE SEASON (Ma saison préférée) is a movie cowritten and directed by André Téchiné in 1993. The picture earned seven nominations for the French Academy Awards and was nominated for the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival.
Deneuve's mother has suffered from a stroke and can't live alone on the family farm anymore. She lives now with Deneuve and her family but doesn't feel comfortable. Deneuve decides to contact her own brother Daniel Auteuil with whom she hasn't had any relations for two years. Auteuil is a doctor who becomes eccentric and aggressive as soon as he's in the presence of Deneuve. While their mother is slowly losing contact with reality, Deneuve and Auteuil will learn to communicate again in the same way they did when they were children.
