| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Secret Beyond the Door |
SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR is a movie produced and directed by Fritz Lang in 1947. This picture belongs to the sub-genre of the Freudian movies, a genre in vogue in Hollywood between 1940 and 1950.
Joan Bennett meets Michael Redgrave in Mexico and marries him after a few days in his company. Back in the U.S.A., in Regrave's home, she learns that he has a 14 years old son with whom he maintains hating relations and that his first wife has recently died. Joan tries her best to save her marriage while Michael is suffering more and more frequently from sudden changes of hearts and bursts of aggressivity. Above all, she doesn't understand the strange passion of her husband who is recreating and furnishing, in a wing of the house, rooms in which famous murders have been committed. And why does Michael forbid her to enter the room n° 7 which is locked ?
