| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Il Posto |
IL POSTO, sometimes known as "The Job" or "The Sound of Trumpets" in the U.S.A., is a movie written and directed by Ermanno Olmi in 1961. The picture won the Italian Film Critics Award at the 1961 Venice Film Festival.
In order to pass an interview for his first job, Domenico has to travel to Milan, Italy. With a dozen other candidates, he must pass medical, psychological and technical tests. He's finally hired as a clerk in this huge company that is surfing on the miraculous italian economical wave of the beginning of the sixties. As he has to wait for a work place, Domenico passes a lot of time observing his colleagues and falls in love with Antonietta, a young girl who's just been hired like him.
