Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Butcher
THE BUTCHER (le Boucher) is a movie written and directed by Claude Chabrol in 1969.

In this small village lost in the middle of France, life runs slowly. Jean Yanne, the only butcher in town, falls in love with the school director Stéphane Audran. While they are flirting, young women are found murdered in the forests nearby. Audran is beginning to suspect Yanne after having found, on the scene of one of the crimes, a lighter she's just offered to him.
