| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Butch and Sundance: The Early Days |
Ten years after the great "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," British director Richard Lester (best known for Beatles and Musketeers movies) and writer Allan Burns (who did mostly TV work along with "A Little Romance") put together this prequel about the duo's early years. For a switch, a good part of the story takes place in the winter. Katt looks a LOT like young Redford, Dennehy plays a menacing rustler out for revenge, and other supporting players help out. There isn't much of a story, though -- just a series of incidents strung together, which makes this 1979 flick not as bad as many sequels, but only pleasantly successful.
