Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Cinderella (1950)
Cinderella is a young woman forced to work as a servant for her horrible stepmothers and two stepsisters. The King invites every eligible maiden to attend to a ball for the Prince returning home, and he shall pick one of them to become his bride. The stepmothers forbid her from going and she is forced to stay at home. Her fairy godmother appears and turns a pumpkin and mice into a beautiful horse and Carriage with footmen. She then turns Cinderella's rag dress into a beautiful ball gown. She then goes to the ball and dances all night with the Prince. She has to flee at midnight as that is when the fairy godmothers spell will end. The prince doesn't even get hername but is sure that she is the one who he will marry. He sends out his servants and with the glass slipper that she left behind the servants must try it on every maiden that went to the ball.

Cinderella, the daughter of a wealthy widower, is abused by her stepmother and stepsisters, and forced to become a servant in the family chateau. She is kind, sweet, and intelligent, and is loved by all the animals, especially mice, which she protects from the stepmother's evil cat. The mice try to help her go to the Prince's ball, but only her fairy godmother's intervention works. Her stepmother, on to the fact that the girl is humming a waltz, imprisons the girl, and only the mice can get her to the Grand Duke to try on the glass slipper.

This film has the usual magical Disney animation in it. In this film, a young girl dreams of meeting Prince Charming and marrying him. Her fairy godmother makes it all possible by turning a pumpkin into a carriage and mice named Gus-Gus and Jacques into horsemen. The always-climactic scene at midnight in which Cinderella loses her glass slipper and everything goes back to the way it was, but she and Prince Charming end up falling in love and they live happily ever after. (Brandy and Whitney Houston would remake the film 47 years later.)
