UMBERTO D. is a movie directed by Vittorio de Sica in 1951. The screenplay writer, Cesare Zavattini, earned a nomination for the 1957 Award in the best Writing, Motion Picture Story category.

Umberto is a retired state employee who barely survives with his pension. As he can't pay his rent on time anymore, his landlady wants to evict him at the end of the month. After having sold his last possessions, Umberto will begin a long journey through the streets of Rome, looking for a way to pay his debts.
