| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Line of Demarcation |
LINE OF DEMARCATION (La Ligne de Démarcation) is a movie written and directed by Claude Chabrol in 1966.
The line of demarcation was a frontier that divided France in two during WWII. A lot of people, running away from the german occupying forces, tried to cross that line in order to reach the part of France that was under the control of the Vichy government.
This movie relates the life of a small town, on the German controlled side, that is situated right at the demarcation line. A certain number of people tries to help those who want to cross the river, others take advantage of the fact that the runaways are ready to pay huge sums of money to escape from the Germans. Small heroic or cowardly acts are reported everyday during this period.
