| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Nine Queens |
NINE QUEENS (Nueve Reinas) is a movie written and directed by Fabián Bielinsky in 2000. The picture won numerous international prizes in movie festivals during the years 2000 and 2001.
Marcos and Juan, two small-time crooks specialized in little swindles, decide to work together during 24 hours in order to see if they can form a team with a future. So each one of them, by showing to his companion his peculiar skills, learns to somewhat respect his partner in crime. They have suddenly the opportunity to hit the jackpot when they try to sell copies of the Nine Queens, German stamps of the 20's, to a businessman who's about to leave Argentina in a hurry. $500,000 is at stake and both begin to feel slightly nervous, especially since everybody around them seems to want a piece of the cake.
