| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Like Mike |
Li'l Bow Wow plays an orphan who one day discovers a pair of old sneakers that were once worn by the legendary Michael Jordan. The shoes give the kid special powers that enable him to fly high in the air and dunk on taller players. A handful of NBA players, including David Robinson, Chris Webber and Jason Kidd make spectacular cameos in the film, and the most memorable scene is the one in which Bow Wow makes a slam over a dazed Robinson. This movie draws striking similarities to the baseball film Rookie of the Year in which a 12-year-old pitcher for the Chicago Cubs hurls 100-mph fastballs for strikes. Here, Bow Wow helps the fictionalized Los Angeles Knights (most likely the Clippers in real life) make it to the NBA playoffs.
