| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Soul Food |
In this film, three Chicago sisters have to deal with their romantic problems and their mother's illness. The story is narrated by the son of one of the women. After their mother dies, they must carry on the tradition that she started back in Georgia. One sister is a newlywed, and another threatens divorce after her husband cheats on her with a lowlife prostitute. This is an inspirational family film that should appeal to all, and it inspired a TV show of the same name. (Little-known fact: The movie was originally slated to be set in Baltimore.)
