| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Little Mermaid |
Based on the Hans Christian Anderson classic of the same name, Ariel is a mermaid with a fascination for human things and longs to be " a part of that world". During a bad storm, Ariel rescues a human prince from drowning and falls for him. Though her father expressedly forbids her to have anything to go with the human realm, Ariel rebels and goes to see the sea witch who seduces her to give up her voice for the chance to become human. The only condition is that she must get her prince, Eric, to fall in love with her and kiss her within three days. With the help of friends Flounder, a fish, and Sebastian, a crab with a Jamaican accent, Ariel copes with being human and winning over her prince.

This movie is based on Hans Christian Anderson's tale about a woman with a tail who has many friends in the sea. Ariel, the mermaid, exchanges her voice with a witch for actual legs, and a prince must kiss her within three days. Sebastian the crab is one of the cutest creatures to ever star in a Disney film, and the animation is spectacular.
