| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Body Heat |
It's a sweltering Florida summer. Married socialite Matty Walker (Turner) takes a scummy small-time lawyer named Ned Racine (Hurt) as her lover and gradually convinces him to help her bump off her wealthy husband Edmund Walker (Crenna). They not only have to come up with a fool-proof plan to get the insurance money, with some help from wire bomb expert/arsonist Teddy Lewis (Rourke), but outsmart the dancing district attorney Peter Lowenstein (Danson). Inspired by "Double Indemnity" and carrying a strong resemblance to the later "The Last Seduction," this 1981 film is a steamy and slick neo-noir by writer-director Lawrence Kasdan. Turner burned up the screen in her feature debut: "You aren't too bright. I like that in a man."
