Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Surviving The Game
Ice-T as Rambo?! No so far-fetched in this vicious 1994 action drama in which six wealthy businessmen each pay $50,000 to participate in a “special” hunt in the Oregon wilderness. The trick is that they've researched and offered homeless but street-smart Jack Mason (Ice-T) into being their guide for $500 a week. But, the morning after they wine and dine him, he is awakened by these perverts, informed that HE is the hunted, and thrown outside with a brief head start. The fact that he is unarmed while they have SWAT-style weapons, motorbikes and wireless communication is part of their thrill. The first half of the film effectively develops Mason as hard not to like, especially when he conceives the first of many survival ideas. Busey and Hauer are chilling.
