| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Once Upon a Honeymoon |
ONCE UPON A HONEYMOON is a movie directed by Leo McCarey in 1942. The picture earned one nomination for the Academy awards.
The setting is Vienna in 1938. Ginger Rogers, an american show girl, is on the verge of marrying the Austrian Baron Von Luber. Rather naive and uninterested in politics, she's unaware that Von Luber is devoted to the Nazis and prepares with them the military invasion of the country.
Cary Grant, a journalist, falls in love with Ginger while trying to obtain an interview for his newspaper. During the next months, Cary Grant will follow the now married couple through Poland, Holland, Belgium and Czechoslovakia, countries which, one by one, will be invaded by the German army. Thanks to him, Ginger will finally understand the role played by her husband in Hitler's foreign policy. She will then leave Von Luber and try secretly to reach France with Cary.
