| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Love Unto Death |
LOVE UNTO DEATH (L'Amour ŕ Mort) is a movie directed by Alain Resnais in 1984. The picture earned 5 nominations for the French Academy Awards.
After having been declared dead by the family doctor, Pierre Arditi miraculously comes back to life. From this moment on, Pierre and his girlfriend Sabine Azéma want to benefit the maximum of the life. But Pierre feels a strange nostalga for the special moments he experienced when everybody thought he was dead. In the following weeks, Pierre's health is degraded quickly and Pierre will finally die in Sabine Azéma's arms.
The young woman swears over the dead body that she'll join him soon. For days, Fanny Ardant and André Dussollier, a married couple of pasteurs, will try to dissuade Sabine from committing suicide. The three friends will have a number of conversations about life about death and the position of the Church about suicide.
