Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Story of Women
STORY OF WOMEN (Une Affaire de Femmes) is a movie cowritten and directed by Claude Chabrol in 1988. The picture earned three nominations for the French Academy Awards and Isabelle Huppert won the feminine interpretation prize at the Venice Film Festival.

The setting is France in the year 1943. Isabelle Huppert is an ambitious young woman who's not satisfied with the life her husband François Cluzet is offering her. One day, she gives an illegal abortion for her neighbour and understands she can make money this way. She also rents one of her apartment's rooms to Marie Trintignant, a prostitute.

Cluzet is still in love with his wife but she despises him so, when he discovers that Huppert is cheating on him with the french collaborator Nils Tavernier, he decides to write an anonymous letter to the police, denouncing the illegal activity of Isabelle Huppert.
