| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about La Collectionneuse |
LA COLLECTIONNEUSE, sometimes known as "The Collector" in english speaking countries, is a movie written and directed by Eric Rohmer in 1967. The director won the Special Prize of the Jury at the 1967 Berlin Film Festival.
Adrien has decided to spend a month of holiday, doing absolutely nothing, at his friend Rodolphe's house near the Mediterranean sea. When he learns that, besides him and Daniel, there will be another guest, the young Haydée, Adrien is greatly disturbed.
Haydée is a young girl who goes out every night and often comes back with a new boyfriend at the house. At first, Adrien will despise this girl who seems to collect men but, in the same time, is attracted by her.
Both will hide their feelings towards each other, flirt a little and speak a lot during this month. At the end of the holiday, when they part, one has the disagreeable impression that both could have lived a great love story if only they hadn't been so proud.
