| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Delusions of Grandeur |
Loosely based on Victor Hugo's "Ruy Blas", DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR (La Folie des Grandeurs) is a movie written and directed by Gérard Oury in 1971.
Don Salluste, Minister of the King of Spain, is relieved of his duties by the Queen. Dreaming of revenge, Salluste will force his own servant Yves Montand to appear at the King's court as Don Caesar, a noble of Spain coming from the Americas. Salluste wants the Queen to fall in love with Don Cesar in order to denounce them to the King. Soon, the servant and the Queen agree to meet secretly.
