A realtor and his family are trapped in a haunted mansion inhabited by a ghost. The realtor's wife resembles the ghost's one time love who was killed. The ghost believes thst the woman is his love and he tries to turn her into a ghost so they can be together forever. With the help of a crystal ball, the realtor is able to stop the ghost and save his wife.

Jim Evers and his wife Sara Evers are realtors who are asked to come give an estimate on a old house on their way to their vacation lake house. But the truth behind the house is that the man wanting to sell it, Master Gracey, and his household of servants and faithful butler Ramsley have all been dead for a hundred years but unable to leave. But... is Ramsley so faithful? He has tricked Master Gracey into believing Sara Evers is his long lost love, and that she will remember who she really is in time.
But the other side of the truth once more is that she isn't really his long lost love, and Jim and his children Michael and Megan have a very short amount of time to make Master Gracey believe Ramsley decieved him, or she's history.

Eddie Murphy plays a workaholic real estate agent who will do anything to sell a house. Even be late for his own anniversary. His wife (Marsha Thomason)and his partner in his real estate buisness get fed up with his blowing family events off for work. So he promises he will take the family on a little vacation. But they get a call from an owner of a huge extravagant mansion who wants to sell it. Murphy's character just can't resist this huge oppurtunity and promises to take "20 minutes tops" at this mansion on their way out of town for their vacation. Well they can't get stuck their because of the rain and have to spend the night. Strange things start to unfold as the family learns of the mysterious curse that haunts that mansion and why the family is involved.
