Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Gendarme Takes Off
THE GENDARME TAKES OFF (Le Gendarme en Balade) is a comedy written and directed by Jean Girault in 1970. This movie is the fourth installment of the Gendarme serie.

Cruchot and his colleagues at the Saint-Tropez police station are forced to retire under the pretext that they are too old for the job. But, after a few months, they feel so gloomy that, when they hear that one of them has become amnesic, they all decide to put on their old clothes in order to cure their colleague. Soon, they are asked by the Mother Superior of a convent to find four children who have disappeared.
