| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Good Marriage |
A GOOD MARRIAGE (Le Beau Mariage) was written and directed by Eric Rohmer in 1981. This film earned a nomination for the 1982 French Academy Award in the Best Original Writing category.
After braking up with a married man, Sabine decides to get married. Her best friend Clarisse introduces her to her cousin Edmond, a lawyer. Clarisse persuades Sabine that Edmond is the perfect match for her.
At first not totally convinced, Sabine gets caught up in the game and pesters the poor Edmond who doesn't know how to tell her, without being rude, that she doesn't interest him at all.
