| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Love Lottery (1954) |
Rex Allerton (David Niven), a major Hollywood star (in terms of box-office popularity, he is second only to "Fang", the wonder dog) is haunted and hunted by importunate fans. In an effort to escape them, he retreats to the Italian lakeside town of "Tremaggio" (actually Lecco, on Lake Como). There he is persduaded by an international gambling sydicate to offer himself as first prize in a lottery. The winner is Sally, a lovely young British fan (Peggy Cummins). The actor's bride-to-be (Anne Vernon) is not amused.
