| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Honey |
Directed by Billy Woodruff, the movie Honey tells the tale of Honey Daniels (Jessica Alba), an aspiring dancer in New York City who had to manage three jobs as a living. She taught dancing to a group of teenagers at a community centre (where her mother worked), was a staff in a video rental store with her best friend Gina (Joy Bryant), and worked as a bartender in a glitzy club. It all started when Honey hit the dance floor after her bartending shift and was talent-spotted by a famous music video director Michael Ellis (David Moscow).
She transformed into a hip-hop sensation overnight, and did everything from background dancing to choreography. Due to her newly found passion and fame, Honey neglected her friends. She missed Gina's birthday party (and fell out with her, more or less), and stopped teaching at the dance classes in the community centre. Thus, the kids went back into the street and mixed with bad company... involving themselves in petty crimes. When Michael tried to take advantage of Honey during a party, her career and plans of setting up a dance school were thwarted by the same person who gave her break to fame, but she insisted on remaining true to herself.

A pack of attractive young people are about to dance their way out of the Hollywood feel-good version of the hood in new movie “Honey” starring Jessica Alba. After a music video producer discovers twenty-two-year-old Honey Daniels dancing at a club, she quickly becomes hip-hop's most sought-after choreographer. Hoping to save resident at-risk youths Benny (Lil' Romeo) and his younger brother Raymond (Zachary Isaiah Williams) from the perils of gangsta life, Honey decides to raise the money to open a neighborhood dance center. But to do that, she has to choose to pursue success with her sleazy boss or stay true to herself and her friends. There's not much suspense in which path she'll take, but the hot-bodied dance scenes are fun to watch along the way.
