Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Polyester
In one of John Waters' most hysterical comedies, Divine plays the saintly Francine Fishpaw, upper middle class wife of a sex shop owner. Upon discovering the activities of her adulturous husband, slutty daughter, and deranged son, Francine's life spirals downward quickly. As she becomes an alocholic, her mildly retarded ex-maid, Cuddles, inherits an obscene amount of money. Despite her tribulations, however, a good future may just be in the cards for poor Francine Fishpaw.
--Judy Berman, Resident Scholar
