SUNRISE is a movie directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau in 1927. This picture earned three Academy awards in 1929 : Best Picture, best actress and best cinematography and has often been selected as one of the ten best movies ever made.
The city vamp Margaret Livingston has seduced the farmer George O'Brien who abandons his family every night in order to meet his mistress. Soon, she asks him to murder his wife in order to follow her back to the City.
O'Brien, blinded by his passion, tries to drown his wife but, at the last moment, realizes what he's doing. After this tragic scene, the couple spends a day in the City, rekindling its affectionate relation. O'Brien has finally made a choice between wild sex and love in the boundaries of marriage.
