Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Bulletproof Monk
A Tibetian monk (Chow Yon Fat) is sworn to protect The Ancient Scroll of the Ultimate. Whomever reads the scroll receives ultimate power. The monk (who is required to give up his name) has protected the scroll for 60 years. He is being chased by a retired Nazi soldier and his granddaughter who want to use the power of the scroll to inflict mass genocide throughout the world.
The monk comes to the United States where he meets Karr (Seann William Scott), a selfish, streetwise thief. The monk is looking for a successor to his position and sees potential in the young man.
As the granddaughter of the Nazi soldier closes in on the monk, the relationship between the oddly matched pair flourishes. The monk unfortunately is caught by the Germans, and they begin to torture him in an effort to obtain the words of the scroll. However, with the help of a Russian mob princess (Jamie King), Karr is able to save the day. Karr and his new girlfriend take on the responsibility of becoming the new guardians of the scroll.
This film, while at times laughably cliche, was a fun movie to watch.
