Review Summary and Plot Commentary about A Passage to India
Based on E. M. Forster novel, A PASSAGE TO INDIA is a movie written and directed by David Lean in 1984. This film earned 11 nominations for the 1985 Academy Awards and won two of them (Peggy Ashcroft and Maurice Jarre).

Adela and her future mother-in-law, Mrs. Moore, have just arrived in India. Adela is expecting so much from her encounter with the Indian culture that she's deceived by her fiancé's behaviour in front of the native population.

In fact, Nigel Havers has simply adopted the attitude common to the whole British community here who tries to import the British way of life in the middle of India. Tensions between the two communities will rise when Adela accuses her new Indian friend, Doctor Aziz, of having tried to rape her while visiting the local caverns.
