| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about City of Ghosts |
A massive hurricane has devastated a portion of the United States. Insurance salesman Jimmy (Dillon) is questioned by the FBI about his company's operations. Accounts set up to pay policyholder claims are empty. Someone has set up an elaborate international insurance scheme to bilk American policyholders, leaving in question whether those who lost homes in the storm will be fairly compensated.
Jimmy is working with the shadowy Marvin (Caan). With the heat on and still in possession of his passport, he flees in search of Marvin who is somewhere in Southeast Asia. Jimmy winds up in Cambodia, trying to arrange a meeting with Marvin through his associate Kaspar (Skarsgard). While cooling his heels, Jimmy holes up in a funky hotel run by an eccentric French expat (Depardieu) and meets a stunning preservationist (McElhone). He also finds someone is trying to double cross and kill him. But who?
The folk music mentioned is Asian-flavored folk and popular music. Tyler Bates has done an incredible job.
