| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Passion Fish (1992) |
May-Alice Culhane (McDonnell) is a successful soap opera star. Her continued professional ascent is disrupted by a car accident that leaves her wheelchair-bound. To avoid scrutiny, she returns to her home town in Louisiana -- a place she had fled without looking back. In her frustration, she begins drinking and lashing out at everyone, including the series of nurses hired to tend to her. Now Chantelle (Woodward) has arrived and is insistent on getting May-Alice sober. The film examines each woman's relationships with the men in their lives – Curtis-Hall and Strathairn -- as well as with each other.
Soundtrack includes classics performed by a Cajun music who's who including The Balfa Brothers, and John Delafose and the Eunice Playboys.
