Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Children of the Revolution
This is a black comedy that asks “What would happen to the love child of Joseph Stalin and an Australian communist?” Joan Fraser (Davis) is that communist, a passionate woman who enflames the hearts and loins of seemingly every man in her path. She is being courted by Welch (Rush), her meek comrade, but she would rather pour her Red heart out to Josef Stalin (Abraham) in regular updates as to how she and others are faring at bringing about revolution.
Joan is eventually invited to visit Stalin, escorted by Agent Nine (Neill), who is playing various sides of the fence. Should he protect her or off her? He winds up falling for her as well. Once home, Joan finds herself pregnant. Who is the father? Stalin or Nine? Flash forward: Joe (Roxburgh) becomes a problem child.
You never know where this film is going and there are some hysterical happenings, particularly as Joe matures.
