Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Out of Time
A cop is having an affair with a married woman. She is supposedly diagnosed with cancer, so the cop gives her $485,000 in seized drug money. However, the woman and her husband are found dead in an arson and all the clues will lead to the cop. Now the cop has to investigate the arson to find out who set him up and he must stay ahead of the department, so they don't suspect him.

Matt Whitlock (Washington), the chief of police in Banyan Key, Florida, has just netted a large amount of drugs and cash in a bust. Alex (Mendes), his wife, has moved to Miami to accept a promotion pending their divorce; he's having an affair with a high school flame (Lathan) who is married to Chris Harrison (Cain), a mean ex-football player for a husband. When Whitlock finds out his lover has been diagnosed with cancer, he has to help her seek treatment. There's all that cash sitting in the safe until the DEA needs the evidence. What should he do? Good friend and co-worker Chae (Billingsley) suggests the time is right for them to buy that charter boat they've always wanted.

Days later, the Harrisons' erupts in flames. Alex is assigned to the case. Whitlock is compelled to stay a few steps ahead of his soon-to-be ex and his own police force to find out what's really going on.
