Review Summary and Plot Commentary about All or Nothing
ALL OR NOTHING is a movie written and directed by Mike Leigh in 2002. This film earned two nominations for the European Film Awards and was nominated for the Golden Palm at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.

ALL OR NOTHING depicts a slice in the life of three British families living in the same working-class housing estate. First, there's Phil's family. Phil is a kind of philosophical cab driver but, luckily for him, his wife Penny is more pragmatic. They have two obese children still living at home, Rachel and their son Rory who'll suffer from an heart attack. This tragic event will bring the family closer together.

On the same floor lives Ron with his alcoholic wife Maureen. Their daughter despises them and is chasing the guys of the neighborhood.

At least, there is Carol, an unmarried woman who had to raise alone her daughter Cécile. Cécile will get pregnant and experience the same problems her mother had 18 years earlier.
