Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Once Upon A Time In Mexico
A CIA agent is working on a case involving several drug dealers. They plan to assassinate the president of Mexico in a coup d'etat. The agent calls out El Mariachi. El Mariachi and two of his friends join the CIA agent to protect the President and defeat the bad guys.
--Jack Bauer, Resident Scholar

The main character, Desperado, is forced to participate in a plot by the US to take down a Mexican General, a general who just happened to have killed his wife and daughter. He is approached by a corrupt CIA agent and then sucked back into the violent life that he thought he had left behind him. He then contacts 2 fellow mariachi friends and proceeds to go on a killing spree. Throughout the movie, he is haunted by memories of his dead wife and daughter. However, he does finally come face to face with his enemy and kills him. Although he is victorious, Desperado is still a ravaged and sad man in the end.

This movie is the final one in a series of three, El Mariachi, then Desperado, then this one.
