Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Quick and the Dead
Sharon Stone is the daughter of an ex-sheriff who watched her father die unjustly. Now she seeks revenge on the man who put her father to death(Gene Hackman). To become close to her enemy she signs up for the gun competition he has planned.
--Becky Mann, Resident Scholar

THE QUICK AND THE DEAD is a movie directed by Sam Raimi in 1995.

Sharon Stone arrives in a small town lost in the prairie with only one thought in mind: to get rid of Gene Hackman, a retired killer who literally owns the town. Hackman has organized a gunfighting competition between the fastest guns in the region and Sharon registers as soon as she's in town, hoping to defy the mean Gene.

Between two gunfights, flashbacks inform us that Sharon's Stone father, a U.S. Marshall, was killed in front of her daughter by Gene Hackman some 20 years before.
