| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Eye of God |
EYE OF GOD is a movie written and directed by Tim Blake Nelson in 1997.
The setting is a small town in the state of Oklahoma. For four years, Aynslee has corresponded with Jack, a prisoner who's been condemned for having molested his girlfriend. Now Jack is out and asks Aynslee to marry him. The young girl, seduced by Jack's tenderness, accepts.
Six months later, the real Jack has surfaced again. He forces his wife to go to church every sunday and forbids her to leave home. When Aynslee becomes pregnant, her first thought is to get an abortion in Oklahoma City because she doesn't love her husband anymore. She decides to leave him but Jack won't let her go so easily.
EYE OF GOD begins like a murder mystery but quickly turns into a fascinating description of the everyday life of a small community of the Midwest.
