| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Year of the Dragon |
YEAR OF THE DRAGON is a Dino De Laurentiis production written (with Oliver Stone) and directed by Michael Cimino in 1985.
Police officer Stanley White has been transferred to Chinatown, NYC. He arrives just in time to see Joey Tai being made head of the Chinese mafia of New-York after having secretly instigated of the murder of Jackie Wong, the precedent boss. Joey, who wants to give a more important role to his fellow men in the NYC organized crime, has deliberately broken the old alliance with the Italian mob.
Stanley White, the most decorated cop of the city, doesn't play by the rules and, with the help of the anchorwoman Tracy Tzu, denounces the lack of motivation of the police forces from the moment that Chinese interests are at stake. He'll be soon the target of Joey Tai's hit men and a growing problem for his hierarchy.
