When John Ridd (Clive Owen) was a child, Carver Doone(Sean Bean) of the notorious Doone family, killed his father. Since then he has sworn vengeance on the Doone family. John and the rest of the people of the countryside are tired of being terrorized by the Doone clan and they rally together to put a stop to it. The only problem is, John has fallen in love with Lorna Doone (Polly Walker), Carver Doone's ward and unwilling betrothed. Now John must save Lorna from a horrible marriage and save his family from the attacks of the Doone family.
