| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Bounty |
In this retelling of the story of Lieutenant Bligh and the Mutiny of the Bounty, we see powerful acting performances from an all star cast. Mel Gibson stars in one of his first American roles as Fletcher Christian, the Master's Mate who leads a mutiny against the cruel Bligh (Hopkins). Sir Laurence Olivier plays Admiral Hood in one of his final major film roles and Daniel Day-Lewis is excellent as John Fryer, in one of his first major film roles.
