Review Summary and Plot Commentary about There's Something About Mary
Ted is a shy guy who lives in the suburbs of a big city. By defending her mentally challanged brother, Warren, Ted scores a date to the Senoir Prom with the beautiful and popular Mary. As he waits for Mary to get ready, Ted zips a cartain body part in his zipper while useing the bathroom. Soon the ambulance arrives and before long everyone in town knows of his unfortunate disaster! Ted ends up spending prom in the hospital and leaves Mary to fend for herself.
Thirteen years later Mary is still all Ted can think about. So his friend advises him to send a private eye to look for her. When the private eye,Patt Healy, finds her, he likes her so much that he lies about her apperance to get Ted to forget about her. When ted gets wind of what Patt has done he drives down to Miami to find Mary and tell her the truth.
On his drive down a wirlwind of unfortunate events happen to poor Ted. First he picks up a hitchiker that is planning on killing him, then he gets arrested for indecent exposure in public, then he is charged for murder! After everyone relizes their mistake Ted is released and back on his way to Miami.
He finally arives and meets up with Mary. Ted has lost the nerve to tell her the truth so he just plays along. Now Patt has relized that Ted is trying to wreck his chances with Mary. All while Mary's friend Tucker is trying to get rid of all the men in her life so he can have her for himself! Now they all have to fight it out to win Mary's heart.
When Mary gets an anonymous letter telling her the truth about Ted and Patt, Mary is furious and dumps Ted for good.
After the rest of Men try to win her heart, even NFL quarterback Brett Farve, Mary discovers she would be happiest with Ted.
