Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Torch Singer
Sally Trent is an unwed mother who cannot afford to care for her young daughter. She puts the child up for adoption, and eventually finds fame as a "torch singer," or a nightclub singer who laments about love and loss. Climbing the ladder to success, she becomes cynical and bitter, drinking heavily and taking numerous lovers.

She eventually becomes a host/singer of, ironically, a children's radio program as "Aunt Jenny," and eventually tries to find her daughter through her broadcasts. Abandoning her wild lifestyle, she devotes her time to finding her now school-age child.
